Depending on the respective application, rotational speed range, load or expected vibrations, advanced spindle systems may be equipped with floating or rolling bearings. SPL’s strong point is our long-standing know-how and flexibility in designing most various spindle systems featuring these bearing technologies.

SPL GmbH manufactures and sells innovative spindle technologies for all industrial production engineering sectors and test stand producers. Since 1995, SPL has at its site in Döbeln employed a creative team to design spindle systems, the performance, rate of rotation and tool holders of which have been customized for the required machining tasks.
 
Depending on the respective application, rotational speed range, load or expected vibrations, advanced spindle systems may be equipped with floating or rolling bearings. SPL’s strong point is our long-standing know-how and flexibility in designing most various spindle systems featuring these bearing technologies.
 
Spindles equipped with floating bearings are of hydrodynamic or hydrostatic design and offer utmost smoothness and precision at an above-average service life. Resulting from the shaft’s extensive admission in the oil film, floating bearings come with excellent damping features. This allows for achieving perfect surface qualities for component parts. An optimized oil supply ensures a long useful life and excellent cost-effectiveness for the entire system.
 
The potential use of newly developed bearing materials such as ceramics is tested for new applications and special bearing dimensions and - if the test yields positive results - implemented as soon as possible.
 
The true running accuracy at the tool holding device is below 0.8 µm. To that come the excellent damping properties. SPL’s spindles equipped with floating bearings are thus employed in machines that facilitate utmost processing accuracy and best surface qualities. Examples are grinding machines for optical components made from glass or ceramic glass, centerless grinders or roll grinders.
